Playa Blanca Beach is in Puerto del Carmen, the first tourism zone created on the island. This beach is also known as Playa Grande, named like that by the “conejeros” (locals) to avoid confusion, since there’s another place called Playa Blanca (the town) in the south of the island.
Playa Grande is family beach, an ideal place to go with children because it has calm waters. Playa Grande has all the amenities: bathrooms, showers, toilets, changing rooms, vending machines for drinks and snacks, rent of hammocks, umbrellas, boats, diving and water sports equipment. The beach has lifeguards and there is a base of the Red Cross.
Playa Grande is at the level of the promenade and the beach avenue, so it is frequently visited by tourists.
This is one of the most representative areas of Puerto del Carmen. The most important sporting event of the year, The Ironman Lanzarote, takes place in Playa Grande. Also, on this beach New Year’s Eve is celebrated with orchestra and fireworks show.
Playa Grande is rounded by palm trees and the view won’t disappoint those who want to relax in front of the Atlantic. Within walking distance there are shops, supermarkets, bars, nightclubs, restaurants and apartments.
