El Grifo Wine Museum is located in the old cellar facilities, built on volcanic lava from the eruption dating back to 1775.
With austere materials, the characteristic wide walls of volcanic stone and the ceilings supported by wooden beams, stands the museum with A traditional Lanzarote façade.
The museum, which receives more than 60 thousand visitors a year, is among the vineyards of the winery "El Grifo", on the road from the Monumento al Campesino (Monument of the Peasant) to Uga in Masdache. It is accessed following the monument to the "El grifo" bird, work of the artist from Cesar Manrique.
Ethnographic material from the end of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century is exhibited, exhibits in which the evolution of the winemaking machinery can be seen. Old presses, crushers, bottling machinery, pumps, laboratory equipment and antique stills are some of the exhibits. For wine lovers there is a specialized shop where, in addition to finding accessories and souvenirs, you can taste and purchase a select range of wines.
The Wine Museum is open every day from 10:30 am to 6:00 pm, including holidays, so there is no excuse to miss it. Guided tours can be done including the Museum, walk through the vineyards and tasting, you can also include the winery in the tour.
