This weekend is a great end to January and we start to “feel the carnival” in various parts of the island. Lanzarote has many activities and events for Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday; from concerts to sporting careers, to children's theater, contests and initiating programs of Carnival 2016. 1. Fiestas de La Candelaria y San Blas Tías 2016
In Tías, this weekend, there's the "Fiestas de La Candelaria y San Blas" (La Candelaria and San Blas Festival 2016). On Thursday at 10:00 am there will be Children's Theatre, by Indiera Theatre with the staging of the play: "What's wrong World?" (¿Qué te pasa Mundo?). The day continues with the Championship of Chinchon, simultaneous with the start of Parade Workshop in Casa seño Justo, at 5:00pm. At 8:30pm, there's a night of theater, by the group "La Caldereta" from Guatiza, with the play "El Banco de Santa Fe". This Friday, at 5:00pm there will be the Parade Workshop, in Casa seño Justo. And at 9:00 pm the Folkloric encounter with a performance of "El Pavon" and Parranda"El Janubio" in the Municipal Theater. Followed at 11:00 pm of The popular Verbena, with the orchestra "Kimera Band" in the Plaza de la Candelaria. 
El sábado, 30 de enero, a las 9:00 horas será el Campeonato Insular Infantil de Karate, a cargo de la Escuela Municipal de Karate “Suhari”, en el I.E.S Tías. A las 11:00 horas el Pasacalle, desde Casa seño Justo hasta la Plaza de La Candelaria, mientras que a las 11:30 horas habrá Talleres de primeros auxilios y exhibición de material, ambulancia, coches, etc. Organizado por Protección Civil Tías, en la Plaza de La Candelaria. On Saturday, January 30, at 9:00 am it will be the Islands Children Karate Championship, in charge of the Municipal School of Karate "Suhari" in the IES Tías. At 11:00 am the parade, from Casa seño Justo to Plaza de La Candelaria, while at 11:30 am it will the first aid workshops and exhibition material, ambulance cars, etc. For the kids, at 12:00 hours in the Plaza de La Candelaria will have Ludo Playground (inflatables, workshops, etc.). Friday will also be the IX Tenderete Canario Candelaria 2016, with performances of folk groups "Guantejina" from Tenerife and "Gaida" in the Plaza de La Candelaria from 8:00pm. Traditional frying, with local wine, bagels and cheese, will be in the Plaza de la Candelaria at 9:30pm. Then, at 11:00pm , the DANCE, with: Parrandas "Raíces," "El Geito" and "Pa'l Porrón" in the Plaza de La Candelaria. On Sunday, at 7:30 am, there will be a tour for the Third Age, as a prelude to the III Trail La Candelaria 2016, that it will begin at 10:00 am and also to the Prebenjamín Football Tournament "La Candelaria 2016" in the Tías Football field. 
Sunday has full program, from 11:00 am with the to XXVII Concurso de Radiolocalización “Cacería del Cochino” (Radiolocation "Pig hunt" contest) by the Amateur Radio Union of Arrecife(concentration and output: Plaza Leandro Fajardo). Then, with the celebration of the Eucharist in the Church of La Candelaria, participating villages La Asomada, Macher and Puerto del Carmen, at 6:00pm. And an hour later, the Presentation of the Carnival in the Municipality of Tías, starring Charanga "Los Gruñones," batucada "Chimbay" child Comparsa "Sur Caliente Junior" and adult Comparsa "Sur Caliente", in the Tias City Hall.
2. RED BEARD + Tokio Revólver
Red Beard is the pseudonym for the canary Jaime Jimenez Fleitas, that he uses for blues as a music hub, a pinch of country and random quantities of folk. For this Thursday, January 28, at 8.30 pm, Red Beard will visit Lanzarote, coinciding with the tour to promote his second album Nobody's gonna bring me down Vol.2. Tickets to see Red Beard accompanied by Jaime Juanma Barroso (guitar), Marcial Bonilla (low) Aly Blutler (harmonica and percussion) and Alvaro Betancor (violin), are Sold out If you're lucky enough to have yours, you'll see in the Castillo de San José Lanzarote's local band Tokyo Revolver, that will open for Red Beard. Tokyo Revolver is a new group formed by Juanra Arteaga and Yarel Hernandez, who also plays on the sounds of blues, rock and American folk. 
3. Lanzarote Digital Planetarium 2015: “Más Allá del Alfa Centauri”
This Friday you can enjoy a "Beyond Alpha Centauri" function, with free assistance. It will be in the School of Fisheries in Arrecife. The activity will be in two shifts, the first at 6:00pm and the second at 7:15 pm Organized by Kosmos-Lanzarote. 
4. 32º Canary Islands Music Festival
This saturday and Sunday the 32nd Canary Islands Music Festival presents a program with two major events:
GALDÓS ENSEMBLE
GALDÓS ENSEMBLE will present in Teatro Insular de Lanzarote this Saturday, January 30, at 9:00 pm. Galdós Ensemble is a band of musicians, most of Gran Canaria, with recognized national and international experience. And in an hour, you'll witness a masterful performance by Ivan Martin on piano and a program of F. Chopin / I. MARTIN Concerto no. 1 op. 11 in E minor and F. CHOPIN / I. MARTIN Concerto no. 2 op. 21 in F minor. The entrance is priced at 15 euros. 
TRÍO ARBÓS
TRIO ARBÓS will be on show on Sunday January 31, at 9:00 pm in the Convent of Santo Domingo (Teguise). A time for Cecilia Bercovich, violin, Jose Miguel Gomez, violoncello, and Juan Carlos Garvayo, piano, to delight you for an hour with the program including J. TURINA Circle, Opus 91, C. SAINT-SAËNS Piano Trio in F major, Opus 18 F. MENDELSSOHN piano Trio in D minor, Opus 49. Tickets for this function are priced at 10 euros. 5. PerRUNos 2016. 1st Family Dog Race to encourage adoption.
PerRUNos is a Family Race with Dogs to promote pet adoption. It will be in the Plaza del Carmen in Playa Blanca on Saturday January 30, arriving at El Pueblo Mall - Las Coloradas. It'll start at 11:00 am and the registration fee is 6 euros, for the Association "Huella a Huella". On the finish line there will be different activities that will be fun for the family, including the dogs. 
6. VI Tabayesco Popular Race
On Sunday, January 31, at 10:00 am there will be "VI Tabayesco Popular Race" within the program of festivities in honor of Our Lady of Candelaria. Categories: children and adults. Registration will be from 9:00 am in the CSC Tabayesco. 
7. Arrecife's Carnival
The program for the Arrecife Carnival 2016 it will start with the traditional Proclamation, by Alfonso Duro Cabezon, this Friday at 6:30 pm, from "Cuatro Esquinas" to the Castillo de San Gabriel, and with the performance of "Batucada Villa Pipol" and Orquesta Salsa Verde. On Saturday January 30, at 8:00 om, it will be the inauguration of the exhibition "Life is Carnival" (La Vida es Carnaval) in the Casa del Miedo. The first major event will be the Drag Queen election Gala Arrecife Carnival 2016, presented by comedian Javicombé starring DKB dKuba group, on Saturday at 9:30 pm in the Fairground. On Sunday 31, at 6:00 pm, there will be the contest of children's street musicians, with a musical performance by Andrea Luzardo and ballet Luis Miguel Aleman in the Fairground Tent.
