Are you ready for the weekend? I’m sure this have been a week to go back to normal after Reyes and all the festivities. It’s time to get back to the routine and “real life”, but it’s almost finish, and we have a great weekend ahead to enjoy our island. And it starts today. Today the 32nd edition of the International Music Festival in Canarias starts in Lanzarote. And today, January 14, it starts with a performance of the Norwegian orchestra Trondheim Soloists, they will offer a concert at the Teatro Insular de Lanzarote with pieces by Bach, Tchaikovsky and Bartok, among others. TRONDHEIM SOLOISTS start a concert series today at 21:00 pm and will feature violin soloist Guro Kleven Hagen. It will be directed by prestigious Øyvind Gimse, who just directed to the group for several years. On Friday, the group TRONDHEIM SOLOISTS will continue in the 32º Canary Island Music Festival, but this time on the island of La Graciosa. Tickets are already on sale in the Culture of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, from 9:00 to 2:00p, they can also be purchased at the theater box office on the day of the performance for a price of 15 €. Follow our Event Calendar so you don’t miss these amazing concerts to be given in Lanzarote and La Graciosa, between January 14 and February 9 as part of the 32nd International Music Festival of the Canary Islands.

2. International Lanzarote Duathlon La Santa

On Saturday January 16 the sporting events will begin. And the season starts with International Lanzarote Duathlon La Santa, 5km run, 20km bike and 2.5km run. It is a day where we see strong competition from national and international athletes. International Lanzarote Duathlon Club La Santa

Description of the route:

5km race

A 2 laps from the stadium of Club La Santa (3/4 thereof) to the lake. At the point of return, runners return to the stage and repeated the route until the end of the 5 Km.

20km bike

A return starting and finishing at Club La Santa. After leaving the stadium, participants head towards the roundabout of Caleta de Caballo, Soo continue to Famara (the surfers paradise) and back to Club La Santa.

2.5km race

One turn of the race course described above.

On Friday, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, it will be the withdrawal of numbers, payment and information at the Plaza of Club La Santa. On Saturday, race day, from 8:30 to 9:30 am it will be the handing out bikes in the stadium club. At 10:00 hours it will be the output of men and four minutes later the women. The awards ceremony will be after finishing the race. The first prize is €500 and a trophy, 400 and 300 euros for the second and third, respectively, in both categories. There will also be a trophy for the best “Conejero” (local) or resident in Lanzarote.

3. Lanzarote Digital Planetarium 2015: “La vida de las Estrellas (Life of Stars)”

This Friday you can learn more about stars in the: Digital Planetarium Lanzarote 2015: "Life of Stars". Are stars eternal? How long do they live? How do they change? An overview of the Stellar Evolution. Taught by Raul Martinez Morales. Attendance is free of charge upon registration, but places are limited. 4. Grand Opening. Musical and Cultural Association “Emisora Clandestina”

Musical and Cultural Association “Emisora Clandestina” presents: Grand Opening. This January 16th at 1:00 pm it will be the first art exhibition (TINO). At 2:00pm Gopar and C.I.A. Emisora Clandestina will give the concert at 5:00pm. Later, at 8:00om it will present White Carlo and more live musicians. 5. Conference: Rediscover the History of the Canary Islands.

Reconstructing the history of the Canary Islands. With this conference, on Friday at the Teguise Municipal Library at 8:00pm, Doctor in Geography and History Antonio Montelongo Franquiz review the history of the Canaries since its most recent stage until early history. The aim is to rebuild a new history of the Canaries to make us look the other way our past, trying to cover the great oceans of knowledge that still exist.
